Sport in Rome


You can play all year round at most courses in the Rome district

Golf

Rome is located in the region of Lazio, which has eleven 18-hole golf courses and another eleven shorter courses. Green fee approx. EUR 45-60 (often more expensive at weekends). These 18-hole courses are right on the outskirts of Rome.
 
Roma - Acquasanta. 18 holes, 5835 metres, par 71.
Does not take credit cards. Via Appia 716/A.


Parco de' Medici.18 holes, 5908 metres, par 71 + 9 holes, 2620 metres, par 34. Viale Parco de' Medici 165/167.


Marco Simone. Elegant club with two courses: 18 holes, 6037 metres, par 72 + 9 holes, 3912 metres, par 64.

Football

The number on Italian national sport. Rome has two Series A teams, Lazio and Roma. Match programme, see the Events Calendar. Tickets are booked through the respective clubs (but be prepared to find it difficult to get tickets):

Jogging

The best jogging track is in Villa Borghese. You can also hire a bike here.  

Workout

Corpea Fitness. All the usual machines, plus aerobics, spinning, etc. Club Via Lanciani 15.
Roman Sport Center. Gigantic gym, swimming pool, jacuzzis, sauna and vapour bath. Via del Galoppatoio 33, near to Spagna Metro station.

Pools

There aren't many good pools in Rome that don't require membership and/or stupendously expensive entry fees.
Useful hint: La Piscina delle Rose. Pool both indoors and outdoors (May-September), approx. EUR 12. Viale America 20.

Watersports

You can hire kayaks and paddleboats at the lake in the EUR park. Metro: EUR Palasport.

Skiing

It's just 80 km from Rome to Terminillo, the biggest winter sports centre in central Italy, the season of which runs from mid-December to March. Cross-country pistes. Metro B to Tiburtina, then LILA bus to Terminillo.
 
Downhill skiing in the morning, and a coffee at a piazza in Rome in the afternoon.
