In Riga there are some good facilities for outdoor keep-fit and exercise. Along the river Daugava there are paths where you can go jogging. The same goes for many of the other major green spaces in the city – unless you prefer the lovely, chalk-white beaches which stretch right along the Latvian coast.

Good opportunities for water sports - 50 miles of coastland and countless lakes and rivers. Boat tours along rivers can be arranged in places such as Valmiera, several miles north of Riga. The tours range in level of difficulty. Almost the entire coastland of Latvia is made up of white sandy beach where you can swim, water ski, sail or windsurf.
