By air
Prague airport is called Ruzyne and is about 10 miles north west of the centre. Bus 119 and X-100 Express will take you to underground lines A and B, from where you can continue your journey into Prague. There is an Airport Shuttle which will take you to the city for 650-1200 CZK. Taxis should cost around 700-750 CZK – agree your price before you travel!
Underground (metro)
Three lines - A, B and C – take you across the city quickly. Buy tickets as you enter the underground, in magazine kiosks (look for the Trafika sign in Czech) or at Metro’s information centres at Karlovo námûstí, MÛstek and NádraÏí Holecovice]. Stamp your ticket at the barriers. You can also use your tickets for the bus and tram.
Busses
On the outerlying areas in the city - they are not allowed in the city because of air pollution. Stamp your tickets in the automatic puncher on board.
Trams
Complements the underground well; a charming way to see more of the city on your way to wherever you are heading. Buy ticket before setting out and stamp it once on board..
Taxis
Stick to the taxis that hotels, restaurants and the like order for you - and which have a meter. Lots of taxi drivers in Prague have been – and some still are – notorious for duping tourists. AAA-Taxis are normally reliable.
River boats
A tour on the Vltava is a great way to see Prague from another perspective. The boats leave from Cechûv and Palacké bridges. You can also hire rowing boats at Charles bridge.
Funicular railway to the Eiffel tower
Yes, it’s true. Prague has its own Eiffel tower.
It is the largest viewing tower in the city, located on top of Petrín hill – reach it via a charming old-fashioned funicular railway from Újezd tram station.
