Flights
The airport is called Nice Côte d´Azur and is in the city of Nice, to the west. Buses run every half hour, 6 am – 9 pm, to the railway station in Nice via Promenade des Anglais. Approximate price EUR 1.30.
A taxi to central Nice costs about EUR 20 during the day and about EUR 25-30 in the evening.
Buses
Good bus services in Nice and to the surrounding towns and villages, with uniform prices for journeys to no less than 23 different towns in the region.
Ticket Voyage Solo (single ticket) EUR 1.30, Ticket Multi (10 trips) EUR 10, one-day pass (unlimited travel) EUR 5.
Tickets can be purchased on the buses.
Trams
They aren’t yet running in Nice though they dominate town despite this, due to major construction projects. This is what it will look like when they start running in 2006.
Taxis
It’s normally easy to flag down a taxi or to ask a hotel or restaurant to ring for one. Taxi ranks can be found at Esplanade Masséna, Promenade des Anglais, Place Garibaldi, Rue Hôtel-des-Postes, Gare SNCF and Acropolis.
Trains
The railway station is centrally situated and is within walking distance of most of Metro Travel’s hotels. Frequent services to Menton, Monaco and Ventimiglia to the east and Cannes and Marseilles to the west.
The narrow gauge railway to Digne
Take a wonderful trip with the narrow gauge railway to Digne. Tip: Get off in St Vallier de Thiey and eat lunch at the “station”, where a former professional cyclist serves traditional French food and sells fantastic homemade chocolate.
Sightseeing bus
A one-hour tour on a double-decker bus that generally departs every hour from Jardins Albert, next to the Meridien Hotel.
Sightseeing train
The mini train departs from opposite Jardins Albert at Le Galion Beach and carries you along the beach promenade, through the old town and up the castle hill.
Mini cruises
See the Riviera from the water! From Quai Lunei in the old harbour, Trans Côte d´Azur will take west towards the Lerin Islands, Cannes and St Tropez or east towards Cap-Ferrat, Monaco and San Remo.
