Food and drink in Nice

A gourmet’s paradise

More starred restaurants are to be found within a few miles’ radius of Nice than anywhere else, with the exception of Paris. These are the restaurants that the Guide Rouge praises the most. Be prepared for menus costing EUR 100-200, though lunch prices are considerably lower. Make reservations in good time!

Eat your way round the world

Eat your way round the world
A good trick for finding exciting food at a reasonable price is to try one of the city’s many oriental restaurants, like those just behind Cours Saleya. Spanish, Italian and other cuisines are also well represented both here and elsewhere in Nice.

The Asian restaurants, Cambodia and Paulin, as well as the Spanish Casa del Sol, are on the promenade, next to Cours Saleya.

Talk about family-run – the entire Verger family work at La Chaumiere.

Don’t tell anyone!

La Chaumiere. A fantastic food experience that few in Nice know of. The last time we were there we saw Roger Moore. The concept is simple: Dad grills and carves the meat, mum makes the sauce and the children serve the food. The best grilled food we’ve eaten (the only alternative is chicken – and then you have to ring and order it), with a huge bowl of fresh vegetables and aioli as a starter. 384 Rue d'Observatoire, on the outskirts of Nice (Grande Corniche). Reservations on 04 93 01 77 68.
