Lilla Torg, the most charming square in Malmö, was built in 1592 as a market square.

Find your way about, step 1: Start off with the square

The fastest way to acquaint yourself with Malmö – walk through the pedestrianised area through the city centre, via the city's magnificent squares.

Stortorget, dating back to the 1530s, is surrounded by beautiful buildings such as Malmö Town Hall, Residenset, Jörgen Kock's house and Apoteket Lejonet.
Lilla Torg is the biggest meeting place in the city, with pavement cafés in the summer and an ice rink in winter.
Gustav Adolfs torg is at the heart of Malmö. Verdant leaves, shops and five fountains.
Möllevångstorget is one of the biggest shopping squares in Europe, with lively, multicultural shopping.

This tour takes you along the canal and through Malmö's old quarters and parks.

Find your way about, step 2: Take a tour.

Circular route.  The cheapest way to see a lot: get on a no. 20 bus and go past sights such as Malmöhus Castle, Ribersborg beach, the Stadium and Pildammsparken. Hop off anywhere you like.

Rundan canal trip. Classic sightseeing tour, summertime. Opposite the Central Station.

Flotten. A musical tour of the canals of Malmö, summertime. Stop off in Slottsparken, with music and a singsong. Start off at Södertull.

Hire a pedal boat. Have a look around the Malmö canal system at your own pace. Near to Södertull.

On foot. Join an organised walk or be guided by your own mobile telephone – talk to the Tourist Office opposite the Central Station.

A visit to Malmöhus castle is like travelling back in time.

Seven sights all in the same place

Malmö Museums. The generic name for all the sights in and around the old royal castle, Malmöhus, the oldest preserved Renaissance castle in the Nordic Region. The Danish kings stayed here while visiting Malmö, at the time when Skåne belonged to Denmark. At Malmöhus, you'll find the Malmö art museum, with its Nordic contemporary art and music department exhibiting old instruments. At the Aquarium/Tropiquarium, you'll meet both southern Swedish fish and tropical piranhas. At Teknikens och Sjöfartens hus, you can see a real Draken aircraft and a submarine. Kommendanthuset often has special exhibitions. At Fiskehoddorna, you can buy fresh fish on a bed of ice. Coffee is served at Slottsträdgården (the Castle Garden). At Slottsmöllan (the Castle Mill), you can see where the flour was ground for the people of Malmö. On summer Saturdays and Sundays, a museum tram runs to Malmöhus Castle from Slottsparken and the city library.

Malmö Konsthall is one of Europe's  biggest art galleries for contemporary art.
