Wescape.com guide:

Not to be missed in Malmö!

Our journalists at Metro Malmö have collected their best tips on what they'd be happy to show their friends in Malmö - and what people who only spend a few days visiting often miss otherwise.

Public park

Folkets park in Malmö really lives up to its name. This, the oldest folkpark in Sweden, is an obvious meeting place for everyone from people hanging around and having a laugh to families with kids riding on carousels to old boys playing chess.

City swimming

The promenade in the newly built Western harbour area has become the place where people who come to swim and be seen show up. It's also the swimming place nearest the centre of the city.

Cheap food

The cheapest (and perhaps most common) way to eat your fill in Malmö is to eat falafel. You'll find falafel stalls all over the city, and these oriental delicacies rarely cost more than 15 kronor.

Crowded and trendy

If you enjoy crowds and maybe seeing the odd celebrity or two, you should head for Lilla torg. There are plenty of pavement cafés here, and the place is jam-packed all summer.

Unusual view

In a flat city, it's nice to have a view to look at sometimes. And if you go to the Översten restaurant, high up in the light blue Kronprinsen skyscraper, that's just what you'll see.

Unique shopping

New shops are always opening around Davidshalls torg. A number of them sell trendy second hand clothes. This square is also a place where you can feel safe, because the old Malmö police headquarters is there.

A safe life at sea

A boat trip through two of the most beautiful parks in Malmö and large parts of the city centre is a pleasant way to spend some time, even for a landlubber. Hire a pedal boat at Södertull and paddle around at your own pace.

Young and international

Vegetable market and shopping for bargains during the day. Hanging out in bars and clubs at night. You can spend all your waking hours around Möllevångstorget without getting bored. Or, at least, without being lonely - the area is full of life from early morning to late at night.

That James Bond feeling

You'll have probably your biggest chance of feeling like this famous agent at Casino Cosmopol. Here, you can become rich or lose all your savings in an opulent environment.

Giant nightclub

The biggest nightclub in Malmö hides behind the slightly unpleasant name of Slagthuset (the Slaughterhouse). 100 years ago, it was the most modern slaughterhouse in Europe, but now it's a pleasure palace accommodating thousands of guests.
