Shopping In London

 

London is definitely on the fashion capitals of the world. Here you are guaranteed to find something for everyone, no matter what your budget. And you will find everything from the latest designer garments to second-hand finds in the market.

Department stores

Harrods. One of the most famous department stores in the world, it has become an icon for London.

 

Selfridges. Massive department store on Oxford Street. Six floors, eleven food halls. Often first with the latest in fashion.

 

Fortnum and Mason. Traditional food hall on five storeys with everything you can (and can’t) imagine to do with food and drink.


Major shopping streets

Oxford Street. Here you will find all the giant names of English fashion. Large department stores such as Debenhams and Marks&Spencer. Large chains like Gap, Topshop and C&A. It’s worth getting there early, for the shops can get crowded in the afternoon.

 

Kensington High Street. Here you will find a nice mix of young fashion (Urban Outfitters, HM, Kookaï) and more mature styles (Monsoon, Laura Ashley).

 

Bond Street. Exclusive, latest fashions. Prada, Miu Miu, Hermes, Rolex, Luis Vuitton...

 

Regent Street. Good mix of dear and not-so-dear. Burberry, Zara, Mango, Jaeger.

Second hand

Notting Hill. Around Portobello Road there are many second-hand shops, or “vintage” as they are known in London.

 

Steinberg and Tolkien. One of the most well known vintage shops in London, right in the heart of King's Road.

 

Beyond Retro. More than 10,000 items from the 40s to the present day. Cheshire Street in Brick Lane.


Markets

Camden. One of London’s most well known markets. Everything from food to clothes to music. Nearest tube (underground) station is Camden Town.


Portobello Road. In the heart of hip Notting Hill. Clothes, antiques, food. Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill or Westbourne Park tube station.

 

Covent Garden. Fruit and veg market, but also clothes, jewellery, etc. Covent Garden tube station.

 

Brick Lane Market. Traditional flea market in trendy Brick Lane. Sundays 8-14. Aldgate East, Shoreditch or Liverpool Street underground stations.
