Shopping in Gothenburg

Most shops are within a comfortable walking distance of the city centre. Department stores, galleries and malls. Old fashioned covered markets and special stores. Large branded stores and small shops. Exclusive and budget. Trendy and classic.

Major shopping streets

Avenyn. The most fashionable street in the city, intersecting with Östra Hamngatan.

Fredsgatan. With NK, Arkaden and Kompassen.

Korsgatan. Pleasant pedestrianised zone parallel to Östra Hamngatan.

Kungsgatan. Said to be the longest shopping street in Sweden.

Nordstan. One of the biggest shopping centres in Sweden.

Haga, a town within a city

Haga was once Gothenburg's first suburb, and is now its oldest, most charming suburb. Plenty of exciting little shops: antiques, furnishings, arts and crafts… You'll also find Bondens Marknad, the Farmers' Market, here occasionally. Start off at Järntorget and stroll along its small streets.

Antiques

Everything from fine antiques to second hand objects can be readily found at Antikhallarna, the biggest permanent antique and collectors' market in Scandinavia.

Västra Hamngatan 6.

Gifts of food

Feskekörka. Fish hall selling what's perhaps the freshest fish and shellfish in Sweden.

Saluhallen Kungstorget. The city's biggest. At the heart of the city – Kungstorget.

Saluhallen Briggen. Meats, continental delicacies, etc. at Nordhamnsgatan 28.
