The Paddan tour boats are a real institution in Gothenburg.

The major tourist sights

Liseberg. An amusement park offering everything from kiddies' favourites to top attractions. Also a very popular place for locals to meet up, with plenty of entertainment and restaurants.
Universeum. The national science centre of Sweden, with everything from technical theory to exciting experiments.
The East Indiaman Götheborg. Unfortunately not available at present – on its maiden voyage to China.
Paddanbåtarna. Classic tour boats. See the city from the old Vallgraven (moat), canals and harbour.
Götaplatsen. The statue of Poseidon, Konsertmuseet, Göteborg Museum of Art and Stadsteatern, and a beautiful view over Kungsportsavenyn.
GöteborgsUtkiken. A lookout tower offering panoramic views across the entire city. Lilla Bommen.

The Röhsska museum exhibits the history of design from 1851 to the present day.

Göteborgs Konsthall. Modern and contemporary art. Götaplatsen.
Göteborgs Museum of Art. The best museum in the world for Nordic art: Carl Larsson, Bruno Liljefors, P S Kröyer, Edvard Munch… Götaplatsen.
Gothenburg Natural History Museum. More than 10 million animals. Linnéplatsen.
Göteborgs Stadsmuseum. Cultural history museum. The only Viking ship exhibited in Sweden. Children can play and immerse themselves in history here. Brunnsparken.
The Röhss Museum. The only design, arts and crafts museum in Sweden. Valand.
Museum of World Culture. The cultures of the world and a world in a constant state of flux. Korsvägen.

Maritiman. The largest floating ship museum in the world. Lilla Bommen.


Maritime Museum. Swedish maritime history covering 400 years. Stigbergstorget.


Skansen Lejonet. Defence building, constructed 1687-89. Beautiful views. Svingeln.


The Volvo Museum is a real goldmine for car enthusiasts.

Lilla Änggården. Gothenburg family estate dating back to the 18th century. Botanical Gardens.
Radio Museum. Radio broadcasting, maritime radio, amateur radio, military radio and a new mobile telephone exhibition. Regnbågsgatan.
Två rum och kök. A fully furnished 1950s home. Allhelgonakyrkan.
Volvo Museum. The development of Volvo since it started in 1927 to the 1990s. Arendal skans.

Trädgårdsföreningen, a beautiful park at the heart of the city, was constructed as early as 1842.
