Nightlife in Gothenburg

The biggest entertainment area is on and around Avenyn in Gothenburg. In Haga and Linnéstaden, styles are a little more mixed and relaxed. Linnégatan is the common denominator, edged with cafés, restaurants and pubs. Vasastan has also become an alternative entertainment area over the last few years, particularly at Vasaplatsen and Vasa-/Viktoriagatan.

Valand has one dance floor for the latest sounds and one for nostalgia and r'n'b.

Valand. Two dance floors, party bar, casino and nightclub! At the junction of Avenyn/Vasagatan.

Resepkt is one of the city's most lavish nightclubs.

Clubs

Glow. Fab disco Thursday-Saturday. Kungsportsavenyn 8.

Excet. Big club, crowded dancefloor. Vasagatan 52.

Nivå. Popular club on Avenyn, nr 6.

Park Lane. Queen of the night for over 30 years. Kungsportsavenyn 36.

Nefertiti. Often a long queue – most people think it's worth it. Hvitfeldtsplatsen 6.

Palace. Classic "pickup joint" for more mature people. Södra Hamngatan 2.

Respekt. Restaurant and nightclub all rolled into one. Järntorget 7.

The Dubliner, the closest you can get to Ireland in Gothenburg.

Amsterdammertje. Dutch pub/bar. Odinsgatan 21.
Bishop Arms. At Sveahuset and the Elite Plaza Hotel.
Flying Scotsman. Many evenings kick off here. Storgatan 47.
O'Learys. Classic sports bar with large TV. Östra Hamngatan 37.
Skål Pub. Pleasant staff, lots of different beers and music at just the right volume. Storgatan 16.
The Rose & Crown. British environment, lots of different kinds of draught beers and popular Fish & Chips. Kungsportsavenyn 6.
The Dubliner. Irish pub with live music. Östra Hamngatan 50.
Vasastan. Delicious drinks. Viktoriagatan 2 A.
Ölhallen 7:an. Genuine small beer hall. Kungstorget 7.
