Hans Christian Andersen wrote the story about the Little Mermaid, Disney made the film and Copenhagen erected the statue in her honour. While you’re there, enjoy the beauty of Langelinie.

The pedestrian shopping precinct Strøget runs from Rådhuspladsen to Kongens Nytorv.

Arken. Denmark’s new modern museum with a beautiful location by the Sound. S-train to Ishøj.
Louisiana. World-famous for its large collection of art from 1945 onward, exciting exhibitions and beautiful views over the Sound. S-train to Humlebæk.
Viking Ship Museum. See Cool kids’ stuff in Copenhagen.

Climb up Runde Tårn via a 209-metre winding spiral staircase.

Runde Tårn. Built as an observatory in 1642. Changing exhibitions in the old library hall. Købmagergade 52 A.

 


A visit to Experimentarium is one long instructive game.

Museums for children …

Zoological Museum. Denmark’s animal life from prehistoric times to present day. Universitetsparken 15.
Doll and Toy Museum. Doll’s houses, dolls, teddy bears, toys, etc.
Experimentarium. Here the children can feel, try, examine and have fun. Tuborg Havnevej 7. Why not combine this with a tour of the neighbouring Tuborg Brewery.

In the not-so-prudish Denmark, eroticism has its own museum.

Carlsberg is a brewery and museum in one.

The most refreshing museum

Carlsberg Brewery. Watch the production of beer and soft drinks at Carlsberg’s oldest brewery from 1847, and taste some different drinks. Gamle Carlsberg Vej, Valby.

 


The canal tours depart every half hour from Nyhavn and Gammel Strand.

See Copenhagen from the water

A sightseeing tour by boat is one of Copenhagen’s most popular round tours. An hour’s trip through the old parts of the city and out along the coast to The Little Mermaid.
