Nightlife in Copenhagen

Everything from exclusive discos to classical jazz places, rock clubs and sing-along cellars with dancing on the tables. For many Danes, a whole evening is often “only” a really long sitting at a nice bar or tour of the bars and cafés along the streets just north of Strøget that goes by the name of “Pisserenden”.

The Library has been chosen as one of the world’s ten best bars.

Bars

Classics
Classic bars are mostly found at the big hotels.
The Library. A cross between a classic library and English gentlemen’s club. Plaza Hotel by Hovedbangården.
Hotel d´Angleterre. Elegant hotel with elegant bar. Kongens Nytorv.

Most expensive drink

Royal Bar. The bar at Radisson SAS Hotel Royal serves a drink that is in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s most exclusive. Contents? A whole bottle of Dom Perignon champagne, 12 cl Martell Cordon Bleu, 10 cl Cordial Campari and 8 cl Blue Curacao.

The Royal Cocktail is served on velvet in a sedan chair that plays a beautiful melody.

Ideal Bar has different musical themes several evenings a week.

Young, popular bars
Ideal Bar. In the music complex Vega. Enghavevej 40.

A mixture
In Copenhagen, a bar is anything from the smoky Hviids Vinstue by Kongens Nytorv to part of a disco – or a cross between a café and a bar. There are of course also international pubs and sports bars in the city centre.

Vega is a whole house full of entertainment – this is the nightclub part.

Dance the night away

Blue Buddha. Dance the night away into the early hours. Baron Boltens Gård.

Park Diskotek. Hot disco by the sports arena Parken.

Vega. Gigantic dance and show palace. The Vega Complex, Vesterbro. Enghavevej 40.

Rust. Dancing on three stories (in the summer, also in the garden). Nørrebro. Guldbergsgade 8.

Blues enthusiasts get together at Mojo.

Jazz night

Copenhagen JazzHouse. The best musicians are found here – and jazz musicians visiting the city often sit in with a band. Niels Hemmingsensgade 10.

Mojo Blues-Bar. Blues stronghold. Løngangsstræde 21 C.

Drop Inn. Popular blues and folk song place.

Kompagnistræde 34.
