Getting around Copenhagen

Air

The quickest way from Copenhagen Airport/Kastrup to the city is by train to Hovedbangården (Central Station).

Train

Hovedbangården (Central Station) is in the city centre within walking distance of many of the Metro Travels hotels. There are also taxis and the Metro (tube), local trains and many bus services by Hovedbangården.

Metro

Copenhagen’s tube system is just a few years old. It will take you quickly around the city. There are two lines: yellow and green. The same tickets can be used to transfer to buses and S-trains. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines or at ticket offices, at the bigger stations. There are also 24-hour tickets for cheaper, unlimited travel.

Buses

All the buses are yellow and are boarded by the front door. The signs for the bus stops are also yellow. Tickets can be purchased from the driver.

Train

Take the S-trains (red sign with a white S) on local routes. On longer routes, take the regional train.

Harbour bus

There is a “shuttle boat” that will take you along the water from Christians Brygge to Nordre Toldbod.

Free cycles

For a deposit of 20 DKK, you can borrow a cycle, by, for example, Hovedbangården. Do as the Danes – cycle around in the inner city. The money will be refunded when you take the cycle back.
