Tropicarium is central Europe’s largest aquarium with marine life from all over the world.

Animals

Horse show. The world masters of riding horses in pairs, Vilmos and Zoltán Lázár, arrange rides, horses in teams and popular events at their horse centre in Domonyvölgy, 35 km north east of Budapest.

At the children’s railway, children and youngsters do everything apart from drive the trains.

Adventures on track

The children’s railway. 11 km, narrow-gauge railway where the children are the conductors, signal operators and station masters. Only the drivers are adults. Go through some of the most beautiful parts of Buda’s hilly landscape. Departs from Széchenyihegy May - August. www.gyermekvasut.hu

Funicular railway. A fun way to get up to Buda castle is to take the old funicular railway dating from 1870. Departs from Clark Adam square.

Spend a day in the municipal park

In the vast Városliget, the municipal park, children of all ages can have fun the whole year round. Play areas, sports grounds, gardens and an artificial lake which becomes the world’s biggest skating rink in winter. This is also home to the famous Grand Circus Budapest in the warmer months of the year.

Experiences with a wow factor

The palace of wonders (Csodak Palotaja). Fun see-and-do museum where children become inventors for a few hours. More than 100 different interactive experiments. www.csodakpalotaja.hu
 
Vidampark fun park. Cannot compete with the roller coasters of modern amusement parks but has an old-fashioned charm about it. Big wheel, fairground rides, radio cars, and more.
 
Budapest Eye. Helium-filled baloon which takes you up to a height of 180 metres to give you a fantastic view of the city before you are winched down again.

Buda castle labyrinth

Discover the excitement of the network of cellars and caves which are connected to a tunnel system of several kilometeres in length. This labyrinth was used as an escape route in the Middle Ages.
